Pirmasens Municipal Hospital – Renovation, Expansion, and Structural Improvements

With support from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, the Pirmasens Municipal Hospital underwent extensive renovation and structural improvements in several construction phases—all while remaining open to the public and meeting the highest standards of organization and logistics.

In the first phase, new functional spaces for the pediatric department were created on the 3rd floor (south wing) by converting the former pharmacy. Subsequently, Ward PE 32 in the north wing of the same floor was converted into a modern pediatric inpatient ward. In the final construction phase, Ward PE 72 on the 7th floor was repurposed: a psychiatric ward with an integrated low-care unit (day clinic) was created there.

The project demonstrates how targeted renovations and expansions can create new structures that sustainably improve patient care and medical processes.
