Pirmasens Municipal Hospital – Renovation, Expansion, and Structural Improvements

With support from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, Pirmasens Municipal Hospital underwent extensive renovation and structural improvements in several construction phases. All works were carried out while the hospital remained open, requiring meticulous organisation and logistical coordination.

In the first phase, new functional spaces for the paediatric department were created on the third floor of the south wing by converting the former pharmacy. Subsequently, Ward PE 32 in the north wing of the same floor was converted into a modern paediatric inpatient ward. In the final construction phase, Ward PE 72 on the seventh floor was repurposed to accommodate a psychiatric ward with an integrated low-care unit (day clinic).

The project demonstrates how targeted renovation and expansion can create new facilities that sustainably improve patient care and medical processes.
