Helmholtz Center Dresden-Rossendorf
New Energy Supply Facility

WPW planned the complete renewal of the central energy supply for the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, one of Germany’s leading large-scale research centers. As part of the modernization of the former nuclear research institute, a new, future-oriented energy center was created, which supplies around 40 buildings with heating, cooling and electricity.

wpw was responsible for the overall planning of energy generation—including on-site heating, cooling, and electricity generation—as well as the planning of external energy transmission lines and building transfer stations. Through an integrated, efficient utility concept, the site’s technical infrastructure was adapted to meet the high demands of a modern research facility—high-performance, sustainable, and reliable for the science of tomorrow.
