Pfalzklinikum Klingenmünster – New Building for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

A new building for the Pfalzklinikum’s Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychosomatics, and Psychotherapy is under construction at the Klingenmünster campus. With a total usable floor area of approximately 4,200 m², the project provides the physical infrastructure needed to deliver modern, future-oriented care for young patients.

Plans include classrooms, an outpatient clinic, and a total of seven wards: one ward with 15 treatment beds and a day clinic with 5 treatment beds for children, three wards with a total of 26 treatment beds for adolescents, and two wards with a total of 22 treatment beds for crisis and intensive care.

The space allocation plan is supplemented by areas for staff, management, and administration. The new building addresses the growing demand and offers a flexible infrastructure that combines high-quality medical care, therapy, and educational support in an environment conducive to healing.
wpw handled the procurement management for freelance services related to the EU-wide tendering of planning services across five separate procedures: building design and outdoor facilities design, structural engineering, and two procedures for the design of technical systems—each conducted as a negotiated procedure with competitive bidding.
In addition, wpw supported the client with procurement management services for five national procedures under the German Public Procurement Ordinance (UVgO), specifically for services in building physics, fire protection under building codes, and geotechnical and environmental engineering, as well as for services under the Construction Site Ordinance and for surveying services.
