History of the wpw Group
What began in 1947 as a structural engineering practice founded by Dipl.-Ing. Paul Pabst has evolved over the decades into a strong, interdisciplinary group of companies.
Every chapter of our history has been shaped by foresight and the courage to take responsibility – from the expansion of our fields of activity in the 1970s and 1980s, to the establishment of new locations from the 1990s onwards, and ultimately to today’s diversified wpw Group.
Throughout this journey, we have remained true to our mission: to provide stability, offer guidance and develop tailored solutions. As an owner-managed and independent company, we have always built our success on trust, collaboration and professional expertise.
Today, the wpw Group combines tradition with innovation. With offices across Germany and Luxembourg, interdisciplinary teams and a clear vision for the future, we continue to look ahead. We are shaping the future of the construction and real estate industry — with tradition as our foundation and our eyes firmly on the future.
Founded as a Structural Engineering Firm by Dipl.-Ing. Paul Pabst
Expansion of International Operations, Primarily in Africa (Including projects in Niger, Algeria, the Congo and Burkina Faso (formerly Upper Volta).
Growth to 150 employees
Construction of the New Ford Plant in Saarlouis
Conversion of the engineering firm into the engineering company Dipl.-Ing. Paul Pabst & Partner
Renamed WPW Consulting Engineers
The name WPW was derived from the initials of the company’s founding partners at the time: Dipl.-Ing. Frithjof Wundrack, Chief Engineer Ing. grad. Guido Peter and Dipl.-Ing. Ingo Wunderlich.
Founding of WPW IFEG GmbH (Institute for Earth and Foundation Engineering)
Founding of WPW IFU GmbH (Institute for Environmental Analysis)
Founding of WPW INGENIEURE LEIPZIG GmbH, later renamed WPW LEIPZIG GmbH
Continuation of IFEC and IFU as WPW GEOCONSULT GmbH
