University of Freiburg – Collegium Building II, Comprehensive Renovation

Collegium Building II is one of the largest buildings at the University of Freiburg and a defining feature of the university campus in the city centre. wpw has been commissioned to plan the technical systems as part of the comprehensive renovation, including fire safety and energy efficiency upgrades, as well as the modernisation of the building services.
The building houses lecture halls, seminar rooms and central facilities for the entire university. The Audimax seats 800 people, while two additional lecture halls each accommodate 400. The space is complemented by office and administrative areas, a library, seminar rooms, a shopping arcade and a student café. The underground car park is also undergoing complete renovation.
