Thermal building physics

Comfort, Efficiency, and Safety

Thermal building physics is a key discipline for energy-efficient, user-friendly, and sustainable buildings. By comprehensively taking into account the physical principles that affect buildings and their building envelopes, it ensures optimal thermal and moisture protection in both winter and summer.

In addition to the energy performance of the building envelope, the characteristics of the building’s mechanical and electrical systems play a decisive role in determining a building’s overall energy efficiency and, consequently, its future energy demand and consumption.

Thanks to our holistic approach and interdisciplinary expertise, we have a thorough understanding of all the factors that influence the optimization of your building.

WPW combines expertise in building physics with practical experience. This enables us to develop solutions that not only meet the necessary requirements but also enhance comfort and preserve value over the long term.

Our approach

We analyze new and existing buildings and present you with alternative courses of action. Using modern calculation and simulation methods, we prepare compliance reports in accordance with the Building Energy Act (GEG), calculate thermal bridges, and identify weak points. At the same time, we ensure that energy-efficiency measures are economically sound and technically feasible.

Our services at a glance

  • Energy Consulting for New Construction and Renovation Projects
  • All basic and specialized consulting services related to thermal insulation and energy balancing in accordance with HOAI and AHO (LPH 1–9)
  • Record-keeping in compliance with the law and the Building Energy Act (GEG) and related regulations
  • Thermal Simulation to Verify Summer Heat Protection
  • 2D thermal bridge calculations, including consultation on reducing the thermal bridge effect
  • Consulting and identifying options for meeting the renewable energy quota
  • Preparation of economic feasibility analyses (static and dynamic investment analysis)
  • Issuance of energy performance certificates, including supervision of construction (qualifications and various listings in the federal states are available)
  • Consulting and support regarding grants (e.g., BEG) provided by qualified and registered energy efficiency experts for residential and non-residential buildings
